April 3-26, 2006
We have a wonderful marina, Washington Marina, right near the Washington Monument. At long last we arrived in Washington DC just at the peak of the Cherry Blossoms. As soon as we setttled in, we took a walk all around the Tidal Basin drinking in the magic of the atmosphere. The Cherry Blossoms draped over the path and petals blew around us in the wind like confetti. It was wonderful. That night a front came through and the storm blew a lot of the blossoms away. Our timing was perfect.

We have taken a lot of pictures with our mascot, the Old Captain.

We are enjoying being tourists
We have visited most of the Smithsonian Museums and the Memorials. The FDR and Korean War Memorials were new to us and very impressive. We have learned to use the Circulator bus and travel all over town. We have been to Alexandria, VA, Georgetown, Arlington, the White House and the US Capitol.

Friends have joined us!
Greg's old friend from Brooklyn, Joe Chuckla, came over from Maryland. Brenda and Ron Osher, friends from Greg's Johns Hopkins' days, came by from Owings Mills, MD. Rob and Jan Munier came down from New Jersey and spent a few days playing tourist with us. It is so nice to catch up with old friends.

Great restaurants and entertainment
Some of our favorite places have been restaurants Clyde's and Nathan's in Georgetown, and B. Smih's in Union Station, the plays at Ford's Theater (Shendandoah) and Kennedy Center (Sheer Madness).
